HANCOCK GIVES SMITH ANOTHER BIG BOX OFFICE WEEKEND
Posted 8:56am 07/07/08
WILL SMITH is back at the top of the U.S. box office chart after scoring a $66
million Independence Day weekend debut.
The weekend estimates mean Smith's new film Hancock - about a reluctant
superhero - has topped $100 million since it first hit cinemas on
Tuesday night (01Jul08).
Hancock is Smith's fifth movie to open at number one in the U.S. over the
Fourth of July weekend.
The movie also lands Smith in the record books - he becomes the first star to
score eight $100 million movies in a row.
Last week's box office number one, Disney-Pixar film Wall-E, falls to two on
the new chart with an impressive $33.4 million, taking its
10-day total to $128 million. (KL/WN/LJ) *WENN
