BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN's halftime performance at Super Bowl XLIII has given his latest album a boost - pushing the CD up the U.S. music charts. Springsteen and The E Street Band's 12-minute medley wowed 100 million American TV viewers on Sunday (01Feb09) and boosted sales of The Boss' new album, Working on a Dream. Now the veteran rocker is poised him to open at number one on the latest Billboard's Top 200 Album list, out on Wednesday (04Feb09). It will be Springsteen's ninth number one album, and is now predicted to outperform his 2005 release, Devils & Dust, moving an estimate 225,000 to 250,000 units in its first week, according to music website Hitsdailydouble.com. The 59-year-old also holds the number one and number two slots on Amazon.com and the second and fifth spots on iTunes with the deluxe and regular versions of the album, respectively. Music insiders tell the New York Post the rocker's rising sales will also dramatically boost his upcoming tour, which kicks off on 1 April (09) in San Jose, California. Members of Springsteen's fan website, Backstreets.com, have reported system crashes around the U.S. at Ticketmaster since seats went on sale on Monday (02Feb09). (JMA/PYN/ZN) *WENN
