ABDUL QUITS AMERICAN IDOL
Posted 2:06pm 08/05/09
PAULA ABDUL has announced on her Twitter.com page she will not be returning to the judging panel of AMERICAN IDOL.
The 47 year old has been in negotiations with TV executives to renew her contract for series' 2010 season, alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi.
She reportedly demanded $20 million (£13.3 million) from bosses to stay on the show but her manager David Sonenberg recently said, "Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on Idol."
Fans subsequently launched a campaign to keep her on American Idol - but Abdul has confirmed she will not be resuming her post on the hit U.S. competition.
In a series of posts on social networking site Twitter.com on Tuesday (04Aug09), she stated, "With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1 become an international phenomenon.
"What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.
"I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."
