COWELL CLOSE TO U.S. X FACTOR DEAL

SIMON COWELL is hammering out a deal to bring hit British TV talent contest THE X FACTOR to American audiences.
The music mogul has become a hugely popular TV star in the U.S. as an American Idol panelist, as well as being a hit with viewers in his native Britain through his annual judging stints on singing competition The X Factor.
Unlike Idol, Cowell masterminded the hugely successful series - which sees groups and older singers battle for a record deal, instead of just younger solo artists.
The Brit is eager to find a deal to launch an American version of the show, and is currently negotiating a deal with Fox network - who already broadcast American Idol.
The deal will reportedly tie the star in to another two series of Idol, and if U.S. The X Factor goes down a storm with American viewers, it could net the already super-rich tycoon a staggering $100 million (£66 million) a year.
